USC's Land Laboratory (LaboraTe) will participate in the
2nd International Seminar Brazil Spain Portugal
(II SIBEP), which will be held on 10th and 11th November,
2011 in Viçosa (Brazil). The purpose of this event is that
students and researchers in agricultural and social sciences
debate, following a multidisciplinary approach, about experiences
and research projects inherent to rural development, spatial
planning and sustainable development.
The main theme of this edition will be the rural development
from the point of view of sustainability and spatial planning.
The Federal University of Viçosa
(UFV) is hosting the event which, in addition, will also
feature the participation of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança
(Portugal).
II SIBEP is divided into four main topics which articulate
the approach to the main theme of the seminar:
- Geographic Information Systems as tools for spatial planning.
- Risks and uncertainties of rural development.
- Environmental sustainability and Geomatics: principles and applications.
- Spatial planning and rural development.
Internationally renowned specialists from the UFV, Spain
and Portugal will actively participate in the Seminar, as
well as researchers from anywhere whose papers and posters
have been selected; the submission abstracts deadline is
September 9, 2011.
