David Miranda Barrós

David Miranda Barrós is university professor in the Agroforestry Engineering Department at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), has over 25 years of extensive experience in land management. His career in teaching, research and management is oriented towards the study of land management institutions and technologies.
Throughout this time, he has participated as the principal researcher in 18 R&D&I projects. He has also been the principal researcher in 64 research contracts with private companies and local and regional government institutions. The most relevant results have been published in 50 papers, of which 36 appeared in international JCR journals.
The capacity to attract resources in competitive public calls has allowed for the consolidation of research structures, such as TeBio (Territory and Biodiversity Research Group), coordinated by this professor since 2013. It has also permitted the hiring of more than 15 researchers in the last 20 years, of which six have obtained permanent USC staff contracts.
University management at USC also features prominently on his list of achievements. This professor has coordinated the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Land Management for five academic years. He has been the scientist responsible for the Land Information System at USC, a support platform for geospatial information services used by the entire university community since 2013. He also currently coordinates the USC´s PhD programme in Sustainable Land Management, since its implementation in the 2013/14 academic year.
