Summer Course: Rural Revitalization – New Life for rural settlements and the land
What do we want our rural settlements to look like twenty years from now? What challenges do we need to address? How can we make it possible? And how do we move toward that vision?
With these—and many other—questions in mind, LaboraTe is organizing the course “Rural Revitalization: New Life for Rural Settlements and the Land,” which will take place in Lugo from 17 to 20 June 2025. The course is offered as part of the USC Summer Programme and is open for registration until 6 June.
The overall objective is to showcase and disseminate the initiatives currently under way to revitalize rural Galicia, in line with the European Commission’s Long‑Term Vision for Rural Areas 2040, aiming to achieve rural territories that are stronger, more connected, more resilient, and more prosperous. At the same time, the course highlights that knowledge of new tools available for rural territorial recovery—as well as the innovative actions being implemented by different entities and organizations in support of rural development—can help extend these initiatives to other regions.
The course will address the key factors for rural revitalization through the analysis of experiences and initiatives developed both within and beyond Galicia, and will include discussions on the measures and tools needed to promote and strengthen this revitalization.
The programme includes hands‑on workshops, where participants will apply the knowledge and innovative solutions presented in the sessions and roundtable discussions.
