Members of the USC'S Land Laboratory (LaboraTe) took part
in the workshop "Economic Viability" of the international
project F:ACTS!
(Forms for: Adapting to Climate Change through Territorial
Strategies!) organized by the Galician Ministry of Rural Affairs
and held in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) during January
26-28, 2011.
Partners from eight European countries discussed about the
possibilities of evaluation of economic and social viability
of integrated territorial planning activities. Different
experts from the Galician Administration, as from the University
of Santiago de Compostela and University Rey Juan Carlos
contributed to the debate. The workshop included a field
visit to the project's pilot area located in Monte do Carrio,
where partners could know by first hand about the problems
of property fragmentation and mixtured land uses that are
so common in Galician rural areas.
F:ACTS! is an INTERREG IVC
project in which 14 organizations of 8 different countries
take part, among them the Galician Ministry of Rural Affairs
and the University of Santiago de Compostela, represented
by LaboraTe. The main objective of the project is the development
and improvement of integrated territorial strategies to make
territories more resilient in the face of climate change.
