Next October 14, Jose Manuel Silva Rodriguez will deliver
the lecture "Financial Prospects of the Reform of Common
Agricultural Policy", which is part of the
Master in Sustainable Land Planning.
José Manuel Silva Rodriguez
is Director of Agriculture of the European Union. In an
interview
granted few weeks ago, about the next Common Agricultural
Policy (CAP) he said: "There will be substantial changes,
which do not just mean the end of milk quotas, the issue
that likely raises most of the interest in Galicia. [...]
The fundamental shift or change, no doubt, will be placing
sustainability, with all that that entails, at the heart
of CAP. And that implies that there will be to tackle issues
in a practical way that in Galicia, and also other regions,
have been put aside in too many occasions, such as land use,
that is, favoring the most rational and cost-effective natural
resources usage."
On the other hand, some agents do dislike this reform of
the CAP. For example, Rosa Aguilar,
Minister of Environment of the Government of Spain, qualified
it as "manifiesto disaster".
The event will take place at 17h in the assembly hall of
the Higher Polytechnic School (Lugo campus). Admission is free.
