A researcher from LaboraTe took part, during October 10-14
2011, in the fourth mission of the project "Support for
preparation of a National Land Consolidation Strategy and
a Land Consolidation Pilot Project (TCP/ALB/3301)" in Albania,
invited by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Situation of property in Albania is characterized by a high
degree of fragmentation as a consequence of the redistribution
processes that took place after the disappearance of the
socialist system in the beginning of the 1990s. Participation
as international consultants in land consolidation and land
banking had as its main objective in showing the possibilities
offered by web geographic information systems and decision
support systems for land consolidation projects and for
the expected National Strategy for Land Consolidation in Albania.
