During this week the 3rd International LANDNET Workshop on Land Market Development and Land Consolidation
is being held. The event is taking place in Budapest (Hungary)
and it is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization
of the United Nations, the Dutch Government Service for
Land and Water Management and the Farland network. Two members
of LaboraTe are taking part in the workshop.
This workshop gathers delegations from 27 countries from
Europe and western Asia. The creation and strengthening
of the LANDNET network
demonstrates that land issues and its relation with territorial
sustainability remains as a central concern nowadays, and
with a major sense of urgency in those places where, like
in Galicia, tenure structures and land management tools
have been unable to catch up with the social and environmental
dynamics of last decades.
During the seminar the first draft of the technical paper
'Land Banks and Land Funds: Instruments for Rural Development'
was presented. The LaboraTe is actively involved in the
elaboration of this paper, which is promoted by FAO.
