Master in Sustainable Land Planning
(MTT) students visited last February 27th 'Casa de Vázquez',
a cattle farm in the municipality of Láncara, province of Lugo.
The purpose of this visit was to learn how a traditional
livestock farm actually works, the problems that have it
has to face and its future projects, among which are the
creation of a museum of classical agricultural machinery.
There was a talk on the history and present of the farm,
followed by a discussion about the future viability of such
farms.
The MTT master, taught at the USC, aims to train professionals
in land use planning, who should be familiar «with the theory
and practice of assessment and planning processes, data
analysis and information in a series of different contexts
in the public sector, business and academic research». Although
most of the MTT Masters students are university graduates
in areas related to agro-forestry, there are graduates in
Computer Science, Surveying, Civil Engineering or Biology,
ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to the central theme,
which is the land as a factor and condition of the area's
development.
