The Research Group in Ecological Economics and Agroecology
(GIEEA) of the University of Vigo organizes the IV International Congress on Agroecology and Ecological Agriculture,
which will be held from 21 to 23 June in Vigo (Spain). This
conference is one of the actions of the network Revolta,
being the GIEEA one of its members.
The aim of this conference is to share innovative agroecological
experiences that are being developed anywhere in the world,
whose implementation is «a collective endeavor involving
politicians, scientists, farmers, consumers and their associations.»
These new modes of production sought rural revitalization
in a wide sense and its sustainability.
The conference is structured around the three dimensions
of agroecology: technical-productive, political and sociocultural:
- The technical-productive dimension focuses on the analysis of agroecological innovations in fields related to agricultural and livestock handling, utilization of forests and plant genetic resources.
- The political dimension focuses on the analysis of regulatory aspects, its various manifestations throughout the whole food chain and the construction of alternatives and policy responses coming from civil society.
- The sociocultural dimension focuses on the study of values and worldviews and traditional knowledge of farmers.
