Active land use management
We define Active Land Management as a land ownership governance model designed to facilitate access to land and promote its sustainable use, specifically to reverse the patterns of agricultural abandonment typical of the Iberian Northwest.
This line of work combines the analysis of land mobility, owner fragmentation, and land use changes with practical interventions that connect underutilized plots with the demand for management and use. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the continuity of farming activities, food sovereignty, and territorial resilience, adding value to smallholdings (minifundio) and transforming abandoned agricultural land into fire-protected areas capable of sustaining agroecosystem biodiversity.
