Green infrastructure and ecosystem services
Our research group positions Green Infrastructure as a strategic driver for the transformation of socio-ecological systems towards more resilient and sustainable models. In the face of the global threat of climate change and habitat degradation, our work focuses on developing methodologies and technologies that help integrate biodiversity conservation and the provision of ecosystem services into spatial planning.
In this regard, our research activity is structured around three complementary approaches:
- Assessment of ecosystem services to support decision-making and contribute to environmental and social balance.
- Development of spatial decision-support systems for the territorial planning of green infrastructure, including advanced spatial optimisation algorithms to delineate multifunctional areas.
- Promotion of participatory governance systems that make planning processes more inclusive, transparent, and socially legitimate.

Thanks to this approach, the group aims to develop solutions and methodologies that jointly integrate ecological and social criteria into land-use planning.
