Participatory Planning for Territorial Adaptation to Climate Change
Human pressure on natural resources continues to increase globally, driving environmental change and intensifying competition for land among different—often conflicting—uses. In these contexts, where multiple perspectives and interests converge, participatory planning becomes essential. It enables an integrated and conciliatory approach that takes into account the viewpoints of all those involved in territorial management—especially as climate‑change adaptation emerges as a transversal and urgent challenge.
Responding to this need, IBADER, in collaboration with LaboraTe, is organizing a training course focused on the design, development, and facilitation of participatory planning processes, applied to climate‑change adaptation in agricultural systems.
The course will take place from April 2 to 4 at the IBADER building, is free of charge, and is open for registration until March 15 (http://bit.ly/4hH0VRm ). It is structured into three modules:
- Design and development of participatory territorial planning processes
- Management and facilitation of participatory processes
- Participatory planning for adaptation to climate change impacts
This training is aimed primarily at teaching, research, and technical staff from the Campus Terra, as well as campus students and other interested participants working in related fields.
The course will be delivered by André Vizinho, PhD in participatory planning for the adaptation of agriculture and forestry to climate change. He has extensive experience in facilitating and developing participatory methods for climate‑change adaptation planning and currently works as a consultant, facilitator, and project coordinator in regenerative landscape planning and implementation.
