Between days 11 and 23 of last of July several researchers
from LaboraTe visited Ecuador to begin the project "Ecuador Intelligence Territory: Researching Support, Development, Land Management and Geographic Information Technologies Transference and Innovation"
(ECU IDTi), funded by Cooperación Galega
(Galician Cooperation).
Cooperación Galega belongs to the General Direction of Foreign
Relations of the Xunta de Galicia,
the government of the Galicia autonomous region. This project
has been assigned the expedient number PR 803 D 2012/59.

This project is coordinated by LaboraTe – research group
1934-TB of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC)
- and the Computer Architecture Group
of the University of A Coruña (UdC).

In Ecuador this project involves several local universities
with which the USC has some collaboration agreements:
Social Sciences Latin-American Faculty,
Military Polytechnic School,
University of Azuay,
University of Cuenca,
National University of Loja
and the Littoral polytechnic School.
The assigned budget ascends to 266,338.4 EUR. The project
will take place between July 2012 and November 2013. Among
the the scheduled actions are:
- Celebration of an International Seminar in Ecuador about Spatial Planning (SP) and Geographic Information Technologies (GIT)
- Promotion and encouragement to develop an I+D+T+i Ecuadorian network.
- Seven specialization scholarships for postgraduate students in USC's Master in Sustainable Land Planning.
- Designing of a PhD program between the participating universities with thematic specialization.
- Intensive specialization seminars about SP and GIT.
- Design of a researching pilot center about SP and GIT.
- Transference of researching job from LaboraTe and A Coruña University Foundation in the use of LiDAR and GIS-Web technologies in order to give service to the Decentralized Autonomous Governments trough the involved Ecuatorian Universities.

Currently the main result of the work already done is that
other universities - A class, order 14 - where revealed
to be interested in joining the project. On the other hand,
it is intended to widen the cooperation network to other
private and public institutions.
