Awards ceremony to the winners of the third Edition of Rafael Crecente award


The next December 17th will take place the ceremony of the third edition of the "Rafael Crecente" Award for Innovative Proposals for Territorial Management, organized by IBADER (Institute of Biodiversity and Rural Development) and the Land Laboratory (GI-1934 TBT), from the University of Santiago (Campus Terra, Lugo).

As stated in the bases of the open call, two proposals will be awarded, with formal recognition through an accrediting diploma and an economic amount of € 2,000 and € 1,000 respectively.

The "Rafael Crecente" award aims to promote the development of innovative ideas related to rural development, environmental conservation, improvement of agricultural production in a broad sense, and the contribution to sustainable territorial management. In the act the 4th Edition of the award will be presented, and graduate and master's degree students will be invited to apply.

The winning proposal of this edition is entitled “A paisaxe da auga: uso e xestión dun ben común” (Water landscape: use and management of a common good) and the second prize is for "EcoMariñas: Una propuesta de permacultura en la Reserva de la Biosfera de las Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo" (EcoMariñas: Permaculture proposal for the Biosphere Reserve Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo).

The event includes a guest presentation entitled “Raíces agrarias da despoboación en España: Transformacións biofísicas da agricultura e desestruturación no campo español no século XX” (Agrarian roots of the depopulation in Spain: Biophysical transformations of the agriculture and de-structuring of the Spanish countryside in the 20th century). The speaker will be David Soto Fernández, professor of History and Economic Institutions of the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The event will be public as in previous editions, but due to COVID-19 restrictions it will be held online, through the Zoom videoconferencing system, and it can also be followed through the Land Laboratory YouTube channel.

In Zoom, the event will count with Galician-English simultaneous interpretation. Those users willing to follow the event in English will have to connect using the Zoom desktop application for Windows. Access through the browser has very limited functionalities and does not include the option of simultaneous interpretation.
