The number of Operational Groups established through the CAP National Strategic Plans, (and RDPs during the 2014-2020 period) has recently surpassed the barrier of 3000 projects.
The EU CAP Network Innovation & Knowledge Exchange | EIP-AGRI celebrated this milestone with the
EU CAP Network Conference 'EIP-AGRI Operational Groups: Innovation in practice' in Estoril (Portugal), that took place between 6 and 8 May 2024 and counted with around 600 participants. The event seeks to celebrate, learn from past experiences, and look to the future of operational groups.
Participants were able to attend the ceremony of EIP-AGRI Innovation Awards 2024 for Operational Groups, where the best Operational Groups in different categories were awarded.
The EIP-AGRI also organized a workshop to reflect on the success of the Operational Groups and propose improvements for the future. The participants had the opportunity to learn from past experiences, discuss the practical application of the results achieved, identify future challenges, and point out good practices in the preparation of the groups. The results of the conference will be collected in a final report, but part of the conference materials can already be consulted
here. The event included field visits to innovative experiences developed in the central area of Portugal.
What are Operational Groups? The EIP-AGRI Operational Groups are multi-actor projects, which bring together people with complementary knowledge to design practical solutions for agriculture, forestry, and rural communities. This is done through a process of co-creation that takes shape in an innovative project. Groups can include farmers, foresters, researchers, advisers, businessmen, environmental groups, consumer associations and NGOs, among others. From the LaboraTe we encourage you to lead or participate in future Operational Groups.
Since 2012, the Land Lab (LaboraTe) has been a member of the Support Facility of the European Association for Innovation 'Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability' (EIP-AGRI), within the framework of the European CAP Network (EU CAP Network).
