The revitalization and resilient management of rural areas requires innovation and the training of participating agents to be able to adequately address the specific challenges of each territory. With this objective, on 7th and 8th May 7 we organized the third and fourth technical exchange visits of the INTERREG PAISACTIVO project at Campus Terra. These are part of Activity 2 of the project, aiming at sharing knowledge, experiences and approaches between the technical staff of the Portuguese and Galician teams.
In this sense, we wanted to share with the project partners and other technical staff, part of the work that LaboraTe has been developing in recent times in relation to these themes.
Thus, the agenda of 7th May focused on generational renewal in the agricultural sector, with special attention to new entrants. The day ended with a discussion about the possibilities and capacities of each of the attending institutions to support new entrants in agriculture.
On the second day, the event focused on territorial planning and land management. It showcased some of the tools developed by the group, aimed at helping decision-making in territorial planning and land use planning, including green infrastructure, and other tools, policies and mechanisms for accessing land.
This series of 8 visits will continue in the coming months, with the 5th taking place on 27 May in Arouca (Portugal), aimed at addressing the management of forest fires in the territory of the Serra da Freita Forest Perimeter, and organised by the Intermunicipal Community of Tâmega e Sousa and the Directorate General of Territory of Portugal. And the sixth will be on 28 May, in the pilot village of Almofrela, organised by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, which will focus on soil recovery processes after a fire.
PAISACTIVO is a project co-financed by the Interreg VI Cooperation Programme for Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2021-2027.
