Generational renewal in farming is one of the greatest challenges facing Galician society, and a concern that encompasses and impacts all dimensions of the primary sector. At the Land Lab, we have long been discussing how the decreasing number of farms and the ageing of the population affect the survival of our territory as we know it, as well as the alternative represented by newcomers from outside the sector when they receive proper support.
On February 7th and 8th, the
XVII Agroecology Farm Forum of the SLG was held in Mondoñedo, where our group contributed by presenting the materials and tools developed within the TERRACTIVA Operational Group. We shared discussion table with Mar Pérez Frá, who offered an overview of the sector regarding generational renewal, and by the Cooperation Project Nó Rural – Territorial Pacts for Agrarian Succession.
The three presentations came together in a panel that provided context on the current situation of succession in the Galician agricultural sector, followed by a second panel focused on training to support generational replacement.
