Since the year 2000, the Land Lab has been supporting the Survey of Local Infrastructures and Equipment (EIEL) of the municipalities in the province of Lugo, being this one of the longest-standing projects since its beginnings as a USC research group. Thus, last January the service for the updating, analysis, maintenance and improvement of the EIEL was awarded once again. On this occasion, two editions will be produced, designated EIEL-2023 and EIEL-2024.
The EIEL is the basic tool for analysing and assessing local infrastructure needs for the purposes of the State’s local economic cooperation. The surveys are conducted by the Provincial Councils following a common methodology, with the technical collaboration of the EIEL-Management Group, which is part of the
Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function (MPTFP). The purpose of the EIEL is to determine the situation and potential needs of services under municipal and other administrative competences, forming a national, census-based inventory with precise and systematised information on municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
The latest edition of the survey produced by the Land Lab was EIEL-2022, which is available on the
EIEL website of the province of Lugo along with previous editions. The information is provided in various ways: through an online consultation viewer (since 2011), through WMS, WFS and CSW download services (since 2011) and via the download of summary documents in PDF format (since 2000).
As has been customary in all EIEL editions, a GIS training course for municipal technicians will once again be offered, renewing LaboraTe’s and the Lugo Provincial Council’s commitment to promoting GIS technologies among local entities in the province, encouraging their integration into the daily work of municipal administration staff.
